The Kerala Rural Employment and Welfare Society (KREWS)
The Kerala Rural Employment and Welfare Society registered under the Travancore Cochin Literary Scientific and Charitable Societies Registration Act 1955 Reg.No.631/86. Its activities shall extend to the whole of Kerala. As per G.O.(MS)No.173/86/LAD dated 18-09-1986, Government have ordered to organise an autonomous society namely Kerala Rural Employment and Welfare Society with the Panchayats of the State as members and conducted under the auspices of Panchayat department in order to undertake activities and implement schemes designed to promote the progress and welfare of the rural people and to improve the employment potential for the young men women of the rural areas.

Mudralayam was established in the year 1987 at Kanjikode in Pudussery Panchayath of Palakkad District, near to Walayar Kerala-Tamilnadu Border. It was formally inaugurated on 26-01-1988, by the then Minister for Local Self Government Department Sri.V.J.Thankkppan. Production was commenced from April 1988 onwards. The main motive behind the starting this institution was to print and supply various Forms & Registers in a uniform approved format to local bodies. A Branch of Gramalekshmi Mudralayam was established in August 2010 at Kalliyoor Gramapanchayat, Thiruvananthapuram. In Thiruvananthapuram there is a training centre along with the printing press.
