Kerala State Development Council

Kerala State Development Council was established in 1994 as per the Municipal act, section 55. Chief Minister of the state is the chairman of the council and state cabinet ministers and opposition leader are vice chairmen of various committees of Council. Chair persons of District planning Committee’s, Mayors of Corporations, Two Municipal Chair persons recommended by state government, Two district Panchayath presidents, Two block Panchayath presidents, Two Grama Panchayath Presidents , Vvice chairman of state planning board etc are the other members of the council. State Chief Secretary is the member secretary of council. Aa meeting should be conducted twice in a year is a custom of the council. Formulation of policy matters related to local development and regional development, Coordination of District plans and State plans, Creation of policy decisions for strengthening local bodies, finding solutions for problems related to development activities etc are the major duties of council.
